EDWARD WIEST: When I have clients come in, the first thing I like to do is sit them down and find out who they really are and what their background is and what their interests are.

At that point in time then it's easier for me to figure out what their real goals are and what their needs are, so I can draft a document that's actually going to fit their goals.

EDWARD WIEST: For most people they're going to reevaluate their estate plan when they get close to retirement.

EDWARD WIEST: At that point in time they may want to utilize a pour over will with a living trust so they can avoid the expensive costs of probate.

Everyone should have some form of an estate plan because even if you're not concerned about your assets, you should be concerned about who is going to make decisions for you if you become incapacitated. So you really need a power of attorney and you need someone to be able to make health care decisions for you minimally.
